Recently, Professor Weirong Chen of Southwest Jiaotong University was elected as a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Engineering for his innovative contributions to the field of hydrogen energy rail transportation. The President of the Russian Academy of Engineering, Academician B.V. Gusev, sent a congratulating letter to Professor Chen，looking forward  to more fruitful scientific and technological cooperations for the sustainable development of China and Russia.

Founded in 1990, the Russian Academy of Engineering is a scientific institution and Russian public organization with significant international academic influence. The first president was Academician Prokhorov, a renowned Russian scientist and Nobel Prize winner. The Russian Academy of Engineering currently has above 1,500 academicians, including over 100 foreign academicians from more than 30 countries, including the former President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Prof. Jian Song, Prof. Kuangdi Xu, and the current President, Xiaohong Li etc.
