Undergraduate Program for Electrical Engineering and Intelligent Control

I. Objectives

Students are nurtured to be senior engineers of electrical engineering and intelligent control with a solid natural science knowledge, a good sense of social responsibility, systematic professional knowledge, as well as the ability to perform critically and innovatively, an orientation towards life-long learning, participation in international cooperation and competition.

It focuses on urban rail transportation electrification and automation technology, electric traction and drive control technology of electrical measurement and control technology, rail transportation, rail transit electrical equipment, etc. Graduates will be engaged in the project/product design, technology development, engineering construction/testing, production/test, operation and maintenance, technical management, teaching and research in the field of urban rail traffic, electric power system or industrial automation.

II. Educational Profile

1. Engineering knowledge: students can apply mathematics, natural sciences, engineering fundamental and professional knowledge to solve the engineering problems in electrical engineering and urban rail transportation.

2. Problem analysis: students have the strong consciousness of power engineering and ability to design electrical intelligent control equipment, skillfully draw CAD and operate computer. Also, students can apply the theoretical knowledge and engineering methods to solve practical engineering problems and draw valid conclusions by literature research and analysis of complex engineering problems in the field of electrical engineering and urban rail transit electrification and automation.

3. Design/develop solution: students can innovatively design solutions to engineering problems in the field of electrical engineering and urban rail transportation, taking the factors of economy, safety, environment into consideration.

4. Research: students with a broad professional knowledge can draw the reasonable and effective conclusions by researches on problems of electrical engineering and its urban rail transportation electrification and automation, including experimental design, data analysis.

5. The application of modern tools: students can develop, select and use the appropriate technology, such as control science and engineering, computer science, and modern engineering tools and information tools, to predict and simulate complex engineering problems and to understand its limitations.

6. Engineering and society: students can reasonably analyze and evaluate the social, health, safety, legal and cultural influences on the electrical engineering projects and solutions, and undertake the responsibility.

7. Environmental and sustainable development: students can understand and evaluate the impact of engineering practices on complex engineering issues to environmental and social sustainable development.

8. Professional norms: students are expected to have a value for humanistic pursuits and a sense of social responsibility, ability to understand and comply with the professional ethics and norms, ability to correctly perform their responsibilities. Moreover, they should have a good cooperation in the team.

9. Individuals and teams: students can role as individuals, team members, and leaders in multiple-disciplines engineering projects or in the technical teams

10. Communication: students can effectively communicate the engineering problems with the industry peers and the social public, including reports writing, documents design, presentation, clear expression or respond to commands. With a certain international vision, students can communicate and communicate in a cross-cultural context.

11. Project management: students can understand and master engineering management principles and economic decision-making methods, and can apply those methods in multidisciplinary disciplines.

12. Lifelong learning: students have a good master of literature search, data query to obtain the professional knowledge, have a correct understanding on lifelong learning and adapt to the development.

Advanced Mathematics, Fundamentals of Physics, Linear Algebra, Complex Functions and Integral Transformations Probability Theory and Mathematical StatisticsMechanical Drawing, Electric Circuits, Analogue Electronic Technology, Signals and Systems, Principles of Automatic Control, Principles of Micro-Computer, Engineered electromagnetics.

Basic courses:

Electrical engineering, Power electronics, Power system analysis.

Core Courses in Specialty:

High Voltage Technology, Power System Protective Relaying, Engineering of Overhead Contact System, Power Supply System, Remote Supervisory and Control Technology, Power Supply and Substation Techniques, Urban Rail Train Network and Operation Control, Electrical control and PLC, Computer control system.

Note: orientation and Seminars with 2 credits are set in the first semester with a variety of courses in the electives.
